Snow removal

Get your driveway ready before the first snow

Put reflective stakes along the edges of the drive while the ground is still soft. Move hoses, planters and decorations off the walks. Fill cracks now so the blower doesn't catch them in January. Ten minutes of prep saves a lot of trouble later.

Why wet leaves are bad for your lawn over winter

A mat of leaves under snow holds moisture against the grass and invites snow mold. Here's when to clear them.

When to do the last mow of the season

Keep mowing until the grass stops growing, usually after a few frosts. Drop the deck a notch for the final cut.

Salt, sand or nothing: what goes on your walk

Rock salt stops working well below about 15 degrees. What we use on steps, concrete and pet routes.

For landlords

What to put in a snow removal agreement for your rentals

How many inches before we come out, who handles the steps, and what tenants should expect. A short checklist.

Power washing

How often should you wash your siding and deck?

Once a year for most homes. North-facing walls and shaded decks may need it more. Signs it's time.

Lawn care

Mow higher in July and your lawn stays greener

Taller grass shades its own roots and holds water. Why we raise the deck when the heat sets in.

Would rather we just handle it?

Tips are nice. A crew that does the work is nicer. Tell us what you need.
